Jacksonville transportation jobs took hit during recession

While Jacksonville transportation jobs took a big hit during the recession, they are now experiencing a resurgence.

According to recent stats from the BLS, there are 465,069 Jacksonville jobs. Jobs in Jacksonville’s Private Sector make up the majority of employment with 412,476 jobs in the Jacksonville, FL surrounding area (Duval County). This accounts for 88.69% of the Jacksonville jobs market. The rest of the market comprises Local Government employment totaling 28,821 jobs, which is 6.2% of the Jacksonville workforce. State Government and Federal Government make up 8,398 (1.81%) and 15,374 (3.31%) Jacksonville jobs respectively.

Service jobs in Jacksonville enjoy a resurgence

As the recession levels out, service jobs in Jacksonville are increasing.

According to recent stats, there are 250,895 Jacksonville jobs. Jobs in Jacksonville’s Private Sector make up the majority of employment with 200,972 jobs in the Jacksonville, AR surrounding area (Pulaski County). This accounts for 80.1% of the Jacksonville jobs market. The rest of the market comprises State Government employment totaling 24,892 jobs, which is 9.92% of the Jacksonville workforce. Kaman Aerospace Corp. to add aerospace jobs in Jacksonville

A region in Florida has secured a big in in the job market after it was announced that Kaman Aerospace Corp. will be adding aerospace jobs in Jacksonville.

In addition to also creating Jacksonville engineering jobs, the company said it won $3.2 million in incentives to invest in a Northside facility.

Kaman plans on adding 200 jobs and investing $28 million in its new digs in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville engineering jobs enjoy revival

A survey done by a staffing company posits that Jacksonville engineering jobs are on the upswing.

Commercial and administrative industries will likely see hiring increases for the second quarter, according to a national hiring trends survey conducted by Express Employment Professionals, one of the nation’s largest privately-held staffing companies.

Express surveyed nearly 19,000 current and former clients across the company’s more than 550 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Survey results indicate that 39 percent of respondents plan to hire for commercial/light industrial positions and 29 percent of respondents anticipate hiring for administrative/office clerical positions.
